Client limits

Every Tidehawk plan includes a number of clients. Domains and certificates per client are not limited.

Plan Clients included
Starter 50
Growth 150
Scale 500

While your workspace is on trial the limit is 500, the ceiling of the highest plan, so an evaluation is never cut short. Prices are on the plans and limits page.

This is not a soft guideline and there is no overage billing. When your active client count has reached the limit, creating another client is refused. That applies on every route into client creation: the Add client panel, a bulk add and the onboarding step all enforce the same ceiling.

Only active clients count. Archived clients do not.

Submitting Add client at the limit takes you straight to the Billing page with a red banner at the top reading “You’ve reached your plan’s client limit”. The banner names your plan, how many clients it includes, and how many you currently have, then gives you the two ways forward:

  • upgrade to a higher plan, or
  • archive clients you no longer monitor.

It also notes that upgrades take effect immediately and that your card is pro-rated for the remainder of the billing period.

Archiving a client releases its slot at once. The client’s certificates, domains and history are all preserved, and you can unarchive later. Step-by-step instructions are in archive or remove a client.

  1. Open Billing in the sidebar.
  2. Choose the plan you want.
  3. Complete checkout.

The new limit applies immediately, and the client you were trying to add can be created straight away.

A client in Tidehawk is not a passive record. Each one carries domains that are scanned against certificate transparency directories at least every six hours and looked up against domain registries daily, and those directories and registries are rate-limited. A hard cap keeps that work predictable, and it means no one is surprised by a bill they did not agree to.
